Sconces For Every Budget
Lighting is one of the most important aspects of the design of a space. A well-designed space has three layers of lighting - Ambient, Task and Accent. One of my favorite ways to bring texture and layer into a space is with a distinct sconce. They add dimension and character and make a room feel more finished.
I have always felt Athena Calderone, whose home is pictured at left, has such a great hand at curating lighting that is special and distinct but isn’t overpowering the room. I love the way she’s used sconces in both of her homes and I highly recommend her book Live Beautiful for some great design inspiration.
I did a lot of research on sconces for various rooms of the A-frame renovation and thought I’d share some of my favorites at every price point from < $250 - $3000 +
Sconces are a great way to add detail, materials and texture and aren’t as big of a commitment as a large piece of furniture or architectural element. They can move with you and be repurposed in rooms for years to come. Below I’ve shared my picks easily accessible online but there are some great vintage lights out there available on 1st dibs, Chairish, Etsy and online auctions.
